Being a Bride
Published in Hardcover by EOP Publishing (01 October, 2002)
Authors: Lori J. Osterberg, Andrwe J. Osterberg, and Andrew J. Osterberg
Average review score:

A superbly presented, heartwarming, and memorable tribute
Combining Lori J. Osberger's truly "reader friendly" text with Andrew J. Osterberg's superb photographic images, Being A Bride is an inspired and inspiring celebration of what it means to become a married woman through the celebrational rituals of our culture. The profusion of black and white images, as well as the wealth of color photographs, perfectly capture the joy of the moment. These images, underscored with brief yet heartfelt snippets of poetry and prose, make Being A Bride a superbly presented, heartwarming, and memorable tribute to a very special form of personal and familial happiness.

An absolutely beautiful book
I very much enjoyed this book. The photography is incredible.
The author starts you out from a little girl's perspective, and takes you through all stages (as well as the emotions) of becoming a bride. It is very touching. I think it makes a wonderful gift book. I would recommend this book as a shower gift or a new engagement gift.

The Best Business Stories of the Year 2003 (Best Business Stories of the Year)
Published in Paperback by Vintage Books (07 January, 2003)
Authors: Andrew Leckey and Allan Sloan
Average review score:

Excellent business stories
A terrific collection of well-written and fascinating pieces of business journalism. I picked this book up at an airport expecting to read just a few of the stories that looked interesting. I ended up reading the entire book cover to cover. Each story offers an insightful and interesting view of a particular business or industry. For anyone interested in the corporate scandals that seem to be erupting in the business world on a near-weekly basis, you will find yourself completely absorbed by this book in no time at all.

Interesting Reading to Know More About USA Business
This is a collection of 30 business-related articles published in newspaper and magazines in yr2002. Many of them in this edition are about ethics, e.g. questionable accounting practices, role conflict of auditors and financial analysts, overpaid executives etc..There are other topical subjects, e.g. influence of technology, free trade, globalisation, workplace diversity.

The editors have picked up many articles that raise insightful questions and issues. They provide ¡§behind the scene¡¨ information and personalities. Interesting to read casually. The stories talk little about making money or improving corporate performance. They are more about ethnics, fairness and justice. Some articles are openly critical about individual companies or persons.

This book is very enriching to readers who are not familiar with American business practices. For example, non-Americans can have a strong feel about how serious are antitrust investigations and lawsuits in The USA.. The coverage of industries is wide. In addition to popular businesses like IT, finance, manufacturing, you also have banana planting, ice harvesting, auctioning, religious organisations etc..

Beyond Dogma: Dialogues & Discourses
Published in Paperback by North Atlantic Books (June, 1996)
Authors: Dalai Lama, Alison Anderson, Marianne Dresser, Dalai Lama, Andrew Harvey, and Bstan-'Dzin-Rgy
Average review score:

An amazing book by an amazing man
After reading two books by the Dalai Lama, I can honestly say I would rather meet this one person more than anyone else alive today. He is an incredible man who has gone through many hardships but continues to have a positive outlook on humanity and even the men who occupy his country to this day.

You do not have to be Buddhist or even religious at all to gain a lot of insight from Beyond Dogma. As the title of the book implies, he really is the prime example of tolerance. He suggests it might be better for some people not to get stuck up on ceremonies or tradition and focus on what is important instead. Most religions at the heart are found on kindness, generosity, and humility. In fact, he speaks of several priests who took Buddhist vows but remained Christians because in essence, these virtues do not conflict. So he reaches out to people of all backgrounds. Part of this tolerance is because much of Buddhism does not require the same leaps of faith as other religions. You can reason through most of his discussions; you do not have to immerse yourself in scripture to understand what he says. He describes Buddhism as the Middle Way - between faith-based religion and secular philosophy - making it accessible to everyone.

His most recent book, the Art of Happiness, was very popular for its life-changing aspects. In addition to his sagely advice, this work also deals with international relations amongst differing religions and governments. Not surprising since it was written shortly after the Dalai Lama won the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize and consists of interviews while visiting France in addition to narratives. He embraces the idea of a 'New World Order' like few other modern leaders have had the bravery to do.

The Dalai Lama is not a religious icon hidden away from the world; he discusses real-life problems in a modern society that is far removed from the mystical city of Lhasa. Meanwhile, he can still apply a wealth of knowledge from a vast amount of information from many fields. If you are anxious to learn more about Buddhism, Tibet, the East, or the Dalai Lama himself, this is a great book to own yourself or to give to curious friends.

My own spiritiual quest started here...
Browsing through a bookshelf with only the most vague notion of what I was looking for, my eyes were caught by the simple and yet powerful title of this book. At the time, I had little idea of what Buddhism was, and yet the title itself conveyed to me everything that seemed wrong with the religon of my upbringing.

Beyond Dogma is an inciteful and well-written treatise. It is one of my favorites written by the Dalai Lama, and the translation provides great clarity to his words. The autobiographical background of the Dalai Lama and the last fifty years in Tibet is in excellent context with the nature of Tibetan Buddhism. An excellent and easy read that is light on the complex theory and heavy on warmth and understanding.

The Big Picture
Published in Hardcover by WinePress Publishing (20 August, 2000)
Author: Andrew Kalitka
Average review score:

Great photography!
This is a great book with plenty of thought provoking scripture to go along with it.

A refreshing walk through God's wondrous creation!
This pictoral delight lets readers sample a variety of scenes captured on film by Kalitka himself. Some sites include: The Garden of the Gods; Estes Park, CO, and photos from the Dalsnibbe Mountains of Norway; Stockholm,Sweden; and Prince Edward Island, Canada. The Big Picture is functional on many levels; Kalitka has paired inspirational thoughts and Bible passages with his photography. This makes for a moving sequence featuring the Iwo Jima Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery paired with a passage from Ecclesiastes "To everything there is a season..." The author tempers levity with comedy; throwing such items as a grinning light-and-tinsel snowman found in Marshall, TX for good measure. The Big Picture left me with a feeling of serenity, peace and gratitude, and the desire to share with a friend.

Bill & Al's Excellent Adventure: A Paper Doll Book
Published in Paperback by St. Martin's Press (March, 1999)
Authors: Jim Becker, Andy Mayer, and Andrew Mayer
Average review score:

VERY HUMEROUS !
This is a very funny book, bought as teenager and still enjoy reading for a laugh! Never seen a presidential book quite like this! The outfits for the paper dolls are very funny!

An absolute great gift for expatriot friends
Bill & Al's Excellent Adventure : A Paper Doll Book takes a humorous stab at the top dogs in the White House, the Clintons and the Gores, by casting them as punch-out paper dolls. If you're in the market for a gag gift, particularly for friends living overseas or anyone remotely interested in Federal politics, I would highly recommend this book. The wardrobes are great and you do not have to be highly literate or politically astute to enjoy it immensely. We received this book as a gift from friends in Washington DC and we use it as a coffee table book. Our Australian friends all get a charge out of it, and it reminds us that we probably aren't missing any serious political development with historical significance by living offshore. It's truly an argument for abstaining from voting in US Federal elections all by itself. I would recommend keeping this book 'out of reach' if there are any pre-pubescent male children living in your house, or run the risk of them developing crushes on the 'White House Wives'.

Blood of the Cross
Published in Paperback by Christian Literature Crusade (January, 1980)
Author: Andrew Murray
Average review score:

The work of the cross is the gateway for intimacy with God.
I read this book during a time of great personal crisis. THe Lord used this book to show me how intimacy comes through the cross. The greater the revelation I have of the cross of Christ and the deeper I yield to the power of the blood preapres me to receive a greater impartation of the Holy Spirit. This is not a work of strong will power, but an identification with Christ in the place of the cross. Read this for strength and encouragement in the incredible grace that God releases to us on the basis of Christ's blood in the cross.

The Blood of Jesus is the Only Way of Spiritual Blessing
In a day when the blood of Jesus is being removed from the very translation of the Bible itself, when the mention of the blood of Jesus is considered offensive even in the churches, this book and Murray's other, "The Power of the Blood of Jesus," are God-sends for those who are willing to accept the ways of God without cringing. Though the blood of Jesus is not in any way magical, it is nonetheless crucial and foundational to receiving ANY benefit whatsoever from God. If one could list all the spiritual blessings in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus (Eph. 1:3), and then search out the sole reason why these benefits are available to born-again Christians, and only to born-again Christians, they would find that every single one without exception is only available because of the shed blood of Christ. Murray clearly shows this truth in his books and mentions over a hundred benefits (between the 2 books) that are only available by Jesus Christ's shed blood. If you want to get back to true biblical Christianity, you must get back to the centrality of the precious blood of Jesus. Otherwise, you have no source of heavenly, spiritual, benefits from God, inlcuding salvation itself. Hebrews says, "Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin." Murray shows clearly that within that statement is included ALL the resulting benefits of forgiveness, as well.

The Blood Seed

Author: Andrew Ward

Andrew Ward....where is he?
I am trying to find more information on the Andrew Ward responsible for writing this beautiful book. Based on the memoirs of a British families' servant, this colorful story brings to you the tale of an Orphaned boy growing up (on the run) in India. You will learn about his childhood, a crazed Christian Reverand (I am Christian, so no hate mail please) who runs a halfway-house/slave camp....and more about his (Balbeer's) life on the run. The back of the book also contains a nice glossary for people like me who have no clue what a "mahout", "bidi", or a "rao" are. If you have to go to work the next day, don't bother starting this book!

A very enjoyable book. Easy to read
I found this book in a book fair in Washington DC. I never suspected that this book was going to be one of the best fiction books I have read. Balbeer Rao, through his memoirs, takes us to a grand journey across India meeting all kind of peoples (Holy men, exotic concubines, royal families, the feared Thuggee) and living all kind of adventures. In this book Andrew Ward presents a very vivid image of India on the time of its independence. He describes the land as he describe the people in all their splendor and traditions. Read it!

this nicely printed book contains several essays by peter and other authors. in this book, peter goes beyond DIAGRAM DIARIES to focus on the blurring process which materializes the figural from the diagram, to explain why and how to destable the relationship between the diagram and the figural. it is not only an extension of DIAGRAM DIARIES, but also self-systematic.

other authors' essays refleted his idea in other veiwpoint. very helpful for understanding his theory but also inspire your own idea.
